    Responsibilities

    Directs and manages all Human Resources functions at Angelic Bakehouse in Cudahy, WI,  including employee relations, staffing, orientation, benefits administration, payroll, workers compensation, training, safety programs, and compliance to federal, state, and local employment and safety laws and company policies.  Work closely in conjunction with the plant manager to define and accomplish Human Resources goals that will support the plant facility’s business requirements.  Develop and execute action plans as agreed upon with Plant Manager.  Invest and manage expenses within span of control as deemed appropriate based upon action plans and activities within the Plant.

    Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

    Building Capability

    • Develops, coordinates and conducts knowledge/skill, policy and supervisory training for employees/supervisors.
    • Acts as a business partner to plant management team to develop and implement initiatives to support the overall mission of facilities.
    • Oversees HR activities through planning and communication with department managers and supervisors to ensure the overall plant HR objectives are accomplished.
    • Develops and controls plans and budgets for the HR area.
    • Reviews with and advises supervisors and managers on all policy interpretations, disciplinary actions and terminations to ensure consistency and fair treatment.
    • Provide guidance and support to staff to ensure compliance with annual Performance Management (goal setting and feedback) process.
    • Facilitates the thinking, discussion and decisions for plant changes in regard to role clarity, organizational changes and its impact on job descriptions, organization structure and compensation competitiveness.
    • Develops, coordinates, and implements improvements for efficient HR processes and operations.

    Associate Engagement

    Develop and maintains proactive employee relations programs to maintain non-union status.

    • Maintains positive associate, corporate and community relations.
    • Develops, coordinates and implements successful learning and development plan for associates/supervisors.
    • Minimize litigious activity and maximize associate engagement by coaching and advising facility management on policy interpretations, disciplinary actions and terminations to ensure consistency and fair treatment.
    • Responsible to ensure town hall session, scorecard and roundtable processes are owned and executed properly by facility management.

     

    Talent Acquisition

    • Assess and understand the talent acquisition requirements in advance of the actual need as able, quarterly review of needs, monthly open position report reporting, service and measurements are top priority.
    • Leverage CPG and manufacturing online sourcing, networking and internal referrals. Use of recruiting firms are used after online resources or for hard to find talent opportunities.
    • Contributes in the assessment and inquiries regarding competitive base pay and bonus compensation programs to attract, retain and reward employees.
    • Develops and implements cost-effective staffing programs/policies to maintain required plant staffing levels.
    • Establishes and administers quality sourcing pool of talent that are cost-effective to recruit and retain quality associates that will maintain required plant staffing levels.
    • Identify ongoing activity to support succession planning.

     

    Other Responsibilities Includes

    • Processes payroll and attendance tracking for all plant employees.
    • Administers and coordinates the worker’s comp, OSHA and corporate benefits programs.
    • Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
    • Compiles and submits information for all required plant/corporate monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
    • Maintains confidential electronic and hard-copy employee data, files and records for the location.
    • Conducts or coordinates all location safety/certification training, records and compliance data as required.
    • Administers and coordinates the work accidents, worker’s compensation claims, work restrictions, OSHA and corporate benefit programs.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5-7 years of prior experience in HR Manager capacity dealing with complex human resources business challenges, preferably in a progressive manufacturing environment.
    • BA/BS degree in human resources, industrial management or related field; PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
    • Working knowledge including legal and regulatory compliance, talent acquisition, associate relations, organizational development and performance management.
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in an office and manufacturing environment, with 25% or less time in a manufacturing environment, where the associate is regularly required to be in attendance at work in accordance with company expectations and guidelines, speak, see, hear, sit, stand, walk, and bend while moving about the facility.  The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors.  The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant.  Earplugs and hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists), safety glasses, and slip-resistant/steel-toed shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.  Working hours will normally involve first (daytime) shift, but also includes periodic time on second and third shifts, and limited weekend work.
