  • Overview

    The primary purpose of this position is to audit freight bills for accuracy and adjust payments to carriers when required. This may include applying revenue to the city and over-the-road private fleets, and auditing warehouse storage and handling invoices. Entry of data into the PRISM system is also required. This position requires an understanding of carrier and warehouse pricing structures, knowledge of the standard Marzetti transportation contract, understanding of fleet routing and revenue application, and strict attention to detail and procedure.  

    Responsibilities

    1. Audit freight bills for assigned carriers to insure accuracy, adjusting charges when necessary.
    2. Take pre-emptive, corrective action with carriers to prevent repetitive billing problems and improve initial billing accuracy.
    3. Insure that audit and adjustment of carrier bills complies with Marzetti/Sarbanes-Oxley procedures.
    4. Assist in research and resolution of balance due or past due billings as required.
    5. Audit and enter warehouse storage and handling invoices.
    6. Enter freight bill data into the system daily so Accounts Payable may process checks to carriers.
    7. Verify data entry to insure amounts and carriers are correctly identified. Verify batch information has been transmitted to A/P.
    8. Open department mail and prepare bills for audit

    Qualifications

    1. Computer skills to include programs such as Excel, Word, and PRISM.
    2. Understanding of carrier / warehouse tariffs and contracts.
    3. Detail oriented and accurate.
    4. High School degree required.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility.
