  • Overview

    Packs finished product into cases, stacks filled cases on pallets for shipping, and performs other duties as needed to ensure continuous operation of a product filling/packaging line.

    Responsibilities

    • Packs various bag sizes of product in cartons.
    • Verifies quality and quantity of bags.
    • Checks code dates on bags and labels.
    • Checks all labeling for accuracy, bags for leaks and proper date coding.
    • Ensures that the product is correctly palletized.
    • Cleans all areas of the production floor as necessary or requested.
    • Visually inspects product for quality defects and removes defective product.
    • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the plant area.
    • Provides support for the machine operator in maintaining continuous production.
    • Works cooperatively with other members of the packaging line.
    • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards
    • Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • May not have food allergies.

    Competencies

    • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility.   Must be able to lift 5 pound frequently and 12 pound above the shoulder occasionally.  Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks.  May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.  The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.  The noise level is loud in the plant.  Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
