  • Overview

    Plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of raw materials and supplies to ensure these items are stored or delivered to the proper areas/departments in an efficient, timely manner during an assigned shift. Also monitors the shipment of finished product and goods to the Marzetti Distribution Center.


    • Coordinates warehousing activities through planning and communication with employees to ensure the shift’s shipping and receiving objectives and activities are accomplished.
    • Reviews budgets for the warehouse area.
    • Coordinates the maintenance program for warehouse equipment, ensuring that both preventative maintenance programs and repairs are completed to maintain the equipment in an efficient, safe operating condition.
    • Monitors storage racking, tanks, and other structures to ensure the safe storage of all materials.
    • Ensures the rotation of inventories within the warehouse to prevent spoilage or outdated product or material.
    • Controls and minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance costs, out-of-stocks, and receiving/selection errors.
    • Monitors the unloading and loading of all materials to ensure compliance to safety requirements.
    • Coordinates shipping of products to/from co-packer.
    • Resolves discrepancies with plant accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, receiver reports or inventory levels.
    • Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to subordinates.
    • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the warehouse area.
    • Selects and monitors carriers to ensure on time shipments.
    • Resolves rate increase/decrease or discrepancies with carriers.
    • Monitors and supplies the DC with finished goods.
    • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
    • Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence

    Directly supervises 2-19 warehouse employees at two locations (3 shifts).  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of the warehouse area.  Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.


    • 3-5 years of warehouse or production experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
    • Associates degree in business or equivalent experience/education in warehouse management.
    • Working knowledge of receiving/shipping, warehouse and material handling operations, methods and practices.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works primarily in an office environment, with 25% or less time in a manufacturing environment, where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility.   Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as file boxes.  May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.  The employee may periodically be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.  The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant.  Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
