  • Overview

    The Director of Supply Planning provides strategic direction and leadership for the overall supply chain planning process, integrating near and longer term supply planning processes.  This role will lead the planning process aligning with the business to deliver customer service, working capital and cost targets. Responsibilities for this position include: supply planning, finished goods inventory planning, finished goods inventory replenishment, capacity planning, master production scheduling, and materials management. They will direct manufacturing facilities and co-packers in regards to master production scheduling, inventory planning, and deployment. This position is critical to the achievement of significant inventory, service and cost metric improvements.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and facilitate the integration of T. Marzetti’s supply chains with a center-led approach to capture synergies, improve performance, and support growth.
    • Create value by improving customer experience, costs, and inventory productivity through integration and continuous improvement
    • Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for supply planning for all plants, co-packers and repackers to build best-in-class planning capabilities.
    • Provide overall leadership for supply planning, finished goods inventory planning, capacity planning, master production scheduling, and materials management and provide governance of these functions.
    • Responsible for working cross functionally to improve fill rate, finished goods inventory turns/days, schedule attainment, and total delivered cost.
    • Partner with Supply Chain, Retail, Food Service, Demand, and Finance to develop the Annual Plan inclusive of tactics
    • Partner with operations to oversee implementation and maintenance of supply strategies for all products to support growth and cost targets

    Finished Goods Inventory Planning

    • Oversee the planning, positioning, replenishment and maintenance of finished goods inventories to effectively balance customer service levels, inventory carrying costs, obsolescence risk management and optimal transportation.
    • Establish guidelines and practices to achieve cost effective and efficient movement of finished goods while maintaining minimum inventory investment, and reducing transportation and warehousing costs.
    • Provide leadership in identifying, tracking and reducing distressed and potentially distressed inventory.

    Long Term Supply Planning

    • Provide leadership for long term supply and capacity planning to support business demand plan.
    • Conduct scenario planning and tradeoff analysis to recommend optimal supply chain performance.
    • Conduct key long-term capacity strategy assessments and provide recommendations to business leadership.
    • Support manufacturing, logistics, and sourcing network design and asset consolidation studies.

    Master Production Scheduling

    • Partner with operation to develop and roll out Master Production Scheduling process and then measure and improve schedule attainment performance
    • Anticipate and communicate current and potential problems/recommendations and opportunities to Senior Management, Sales, Brand Marketing and Customer Service.
    • Provide leadership in developing and implementing an Integrated Planning and Control process across the end to end supply chain in preparation for implementing future ERP system.
    • Provide leadership and support for future ERP implementation.
    • Provide ongoing development, coaching and performance management to the team and ensure a high level of performance. Create the conditions that enable team members to succeed, learn, and enjoy their work.
    • Institute daily management rigor to monitor and improve service, working capital and cost

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Supply Chain, Finance or related field. MBA/advanced degree a plus.
    • Minimum of 10 years of Supply Chain experience in roles of increasing responsibility, including leadership.
    • Experience with all aspects of the supply chain, including planning, purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, deployment and inventory management is ideal.
    • Experience in demand planning, supply planning, and S&OP/Integrated Business Planning for a $1B+ business operating in an ERP environment (SAP preferred) is required.
    • Experience in CPG, food manufacturing or FDA-regulated industry is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of Supply Chain Management and demand-based replenishment strategy.
    • Strong understanding of Supply Chain IT transaction systems and information flow and experience with advanced planning software.
    • Supply Chain continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma experience required.
    • APICS certification preferred.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Ability to lead effectively and handle conflict in cross-functional integration role
    • Ability to interact with various levels of the organization (corporate/plant).
    • Able to analyze run strategy alternatives and balance-sheet/P&L impacts.
    • Highly skilled in building valued partnerships with stakeholders, influencing senior leaders, leading change, applying emotional intelligence, and understanding analytics.
    • Able to travel domestically up to 25%

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the office is quiet. Some travel to plant and company locations is required. Overtime or irregular hours are required to meet extreme workloads and regularly-imposed deadlines.
