  • Overview

    T. Marzetti Company is looking for an experienced Inventory Planner to support the Supply Planning organization.  The Inventory Planner will be responsible for managing day-to-day deployment activities, supporting Distribution Requirements Planning, and collaborating with diverse cross-functional groups.  



    • Perform analysis to identify opportunities for managing inventory through close collaboration with cross-functional teams (demand planning, operations, customer service, marketing, etc.)
    • Maximize utilization of both internal and external warehousing spaces by identifying the most effective inventory stocking strategy
    • Determine customer order sourcing guidelines and communicate accordingly
    • Establish, deploy and monitor replenishment inventories to needed facilities in order to balance inventories
    • Monitor and reconcile inventories (lot codes & suffixes), and audit storage and handling invoices
    • Monitor and reduce cost associated with overstocked and aged inventory, inclusive of monitoring shelf life, correspondence with sales, production/demand planning, and quality assurance to receive disposition
    • Evaluate stocking strategies through creation of senior-management level reports and analysis in order to recommend production levels and warehousing strategies for best case service levels and efficient production utilization
    • Monitor, reconcile, and research inventory adjustments to ensure inventory accuracy
    • Optimize order fill and reduce inter-company transfers via deployment activities, requiring close collaboration with production facilities
    • Work in partnership with demand, supply, and production planning teams to drive effective production planning
    • Independently contrast, compile and distribute management level inventory and logistics reports utilizing MS office tools
    • Construct KPI (key performance indicator) logistics charts in order to visually represent performance and change through various facets of inventory, production and logistics


    • Bachelor Degree & 3+ years of experience in related field required
    • APICS certification or formal training a plus
    • Proven competency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Understanding of basic Sales & Operations Process
    • Experience with ERP tools (SAP preferred) is essential
    • Demonstrated experience in logistics, transportation, inventory, production and warehousing industries
    • General understanding of product life cycle of perishable goods
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
    • Display high level analytical problem solving abilities
    • Effective organization and time management skills
    • Understanding of basic statistics for business analysis
    • Works with sensitive information in a professional manner
