  • Overview

    As the primary analytical position within the Logistics team, the Logistics Business Analyst will use data mining and ad-hoc reporting to provide in depth analysis for all financial results for the logistics group. The role will also organize data to measure monthly, quarterly, and year over year variances in key logistic metrics and investigate underlying causes. Identifies trends in cost and service to recommend improvement opportunities. Models optimum distribution networks. Manages Soti program in managing wireless equipment in the company and recommends new equipment for RF systems. Partners with IT, Accounting, DC’s, plants and other company entities in project implementation and analysis. Provide WMS and TMS system support, training and implementation. Provides support for month end inventory procedures and policies for outside warehouses to ensure accurate inventory statements each reporting cycle. 


    • Establishes and generates reporting in required formats to identify and explain logistic cost variances YOY or at other intervals.  
    • Prepares information for KPI or other managerial reviews. 
    • Provides Prism and systems support for corporate, DC, and plant operations in logistic operations. 
    • Drills down to identify root causes and cost saving or service improvement opportunities. 
    • Provides logistic analysis for marketing, sales, and technical services. 
    •  Partners with corporate accounting and plant accountants to provide analysis and support on logistic costs. 
    • Partners with IT department to provide system testing and support project implementations. 
    • Power user in BI data base. 
    • Acts as the “super user” and trainer of the TMS, WMS, and logistic access databases. Trains new users on all logistics platforms. 
    • Works in conjunction with Logistic Black Belt on continuous improvement projects. 
    • Records achievements in Marzetti Operational Excellence or other files as required. 
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Freight & Warehousing or VP of Logistics. 


    • BS degree in logistics or related field       
    • 3-5 years’ experience in logistical analysis with a transportation provider, food manufacturer, or CPG company       
    • Mathematical skills / statistical analysis·         
    • Experience with freight payment systems and report-writing software, such as GPS·         
    • Detail oriented, organized and accurate; mathematically proficient, self-motivated·         
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills·         
    • Advanced presentation skills with Word, Excel, and Power Point, and Access·         
    • Prior TMS (Transportation Management System) experience with a recognized platform

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the office is quiet. Travel to outside locations for Carrier visits, plant visits, Kaizen events, and other applicable industry travel will be required 5-10% per year.
