    Highly visible new position as weekdays operational excellence specialist at T. Marzetti's premier flagship factory, located in beautiful Horse Cave Kentucky. The OpEx Specialist will be responsible for the deployment and results of Marzetti Operational Excellence performance system using Lean and TPM.   The Operational Excellence Specialist will learn, lead and coordinate with the weekend OpEx specialist, and site pillar champions to drive process improvements and sustain bottom line results through strong daily management systems found in each pillar. The company is looking for a high energy change agent to help the site develop a new mindset, culture, and the way we do our daily work.

    • Responsible for meeting established objectives pertaining to plant goals and performance
    • Develops and monitors spending against the departmental budget.
    • Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
    • Acts as a business partner to plant management team to develop and implement initiatives to support the overall mission of facilities.
    • Works with direct and indirect reports on skill building activities.

    Qualifications

    Qualification Requirements:

    • 3-5 years operations and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably food-related industry.
    • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in continuous improvement methods; with ability to teach, train and develop associates & leadership
    • Exposure and/or Participation with Pillar Based Operational Excellence Program (preferred)
    • Ability to direct and lead cross functional improvement teams, sharing better business practices across supply chain
    • Must be competent in facilitating lean kaizen events with demonstrated bottom line results
    • Strong team builder, mentor, coach, and influential leader; with a history of building trust and effecting change
    • Excellent communication skills, proven capability to lead change in a team environment, as well as communicating results to senior leadership
    • Analytical/statistical problem solver; experience with trigger based / short interval control root cause analysis a plus
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing, scheduling, and overall supply chain.
    • Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence.
    • Positive, energetic leadership and self-motivation skills, who is an advocate for change and serves as a change catalyst
    • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast paced environment.
    • This is a M-F Primarily 1st shift role, within a 24x7 facility. Flexibility to support projects is required
    • This is a highly visible position. Candidates must desire to move up within the organization and be willing to relocate
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Management (preferred)
    • Strong organizational abilities, capable of multi-tasking and working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Access (preferred).

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Working Conditions/Environment:

    Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read and comprehend, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to push/pull or lift up to 50 pounds for short distances. The Employee may be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap. The noise level in the plant is loud.        

    SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the employee.
