  • Overview

    The Information Security Engineer should have a passion for systems and security work, and possesses deep and wide expertise in the security space. This position will focus on protecting system boundaries, keeping systems and infrastructure hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data, along with securing user and computer identity. They develop and maintain protocols for the safe use, entry, transmission, and retrieval of data and software assets at a company. They work to ensure that these security protocols are flexible enough to remain user-friendly for employees, while also ensuring that security is strong enough to meet the needs of the business.

    Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the planning, requirements gathering, design, and engineering of security solutions across the risk and technology portfolio
    • Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs
    • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, storage, infrastructure and cloud applications
    • Define system security requirements, identify vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation plans
    • Evaluate, design, and deploy emerging security solutions, including but not limited to: vulnerability management, anti-malware, network IDS/IPS, security information and event monitoring (SIEM) systems, network flow technologies, and user behavior and entity monitoring
    • Support and coordinate risk assessments and security evaluations for vendors deploying solutions either on premise or in the cloud
    • Participate in proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs and solutions and provide recommendations
    • Plan and coordinate the deployment of security and vulnerability patching to all computer systems
    • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and standards
    • Develop technical solutions, and select and implement new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
    • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement
    • Support the investigation and resolution of security incidents

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Proven work experience as a security analyst or information security engineer.
    • Have strong knowledge of data center, computer and storage systems.
    • Experience in building and maintaining security systems
    • Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security
    • Hands on experience in security systems, including but not limited to computer system logs, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering
    • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
    • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
    • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to professionally handle confidential matters while leveraging the appropriate level of judgment
    • 5-7 years’ experience in technology with 2-3 years in security
    • Applicable industry certifications recommended, but not required

    Working Conditions/Environment

    Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the office is quiet. Some travel to plant and company locations is required. Overtime or irregular hours are required to meet extreme workloads and regularly-imposed deadlines. There are frequent interruptions to handle special requests and emergencies. Individual is on call at time
