  • Overview

    The Bagger Operator is responsible for the bagger machine operation, ensure the correct product bags are being used and the product is being bagged properly and pay attention to correct count.  Be trained in all the paper work to track product weight, scrap bags, inserts etc.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Observe company’s safety requirements all the time
    • Verify line is set-up correctly prior to start-up and during changeover
    • Communicate with shift leadership to consistently keep bagger supplied with the correct bags for the product in production at all times.
    • Consistently monitors settings on bagger machine and make necessary adjustments to ensure product is bagged correctly and product flows consistently through production process.
    • Must face the bagger machine while the machine is running and the workstation should not be left unattended.
    • Consistently monitor product stack counts; correct issues as they come up and clear out jams and report any discrepancies to QC or shift leadership
    • View stacks of product, if they are not straight make adjustments to the slides – verbally or in writing, notify Supervisor or QC of the adjustments.
    • Weight check to be performed at each wicket change; weights to be documented on the Packaged Weight Check sheet
    • Accurately documents bag usage and counts any bad bags with correct lote code information
    • Coordinate with shipping to ensure the proper amount of packaging materials are available for the shifts entire production run; bags, inserts, etc.
    • Re-package product from bad seals or other quality issues when line is down.
    • At end of the product run and changeovers, tape open boxes of bags and return them to proper pallet for restocking. All loose bags must be counted and recorded
    • Communicate with shipping or shift leadership to put away packaging materials that are no longer needed.
    • At shift end all packaging materials; garbage, recycling, etc. should be cleaned up prior to leaving the floor.
    • Keep trash separated (plastic / product / metal wickets) to ensure it is recycled properly.
    • Consistently keep work area neat and clean and free of debris on floor at all times.
    • Communicate with sealer and other positions as needed
    • In the event of down time, first support other lines that are operating, if these lines are caught up, sweep, clean and pick up area.
    • Work in other positions of the production process as needed and directed by supervision.

    • Willingness to be flexible to work weekends as needed in production or sanitation

    Qualifications

    Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
    • Ability to multitask; keeping track of multiple issues which affect entire bagging process
    • Good hand/eye coordination, hand dexterity and problem solving skills.
    • Basic mechanically ability and able to operate machinery.
    • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
