Initiates and executes mid-to large-size capital projects that improve plant operations and utilization to achieve maximum productive capability at the lowest operating cost.
Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates
Coordinates multiple projects with management, plant personnel, engineering, suppliers and consultants; provides on-site supervision of contractors as required.
Evaluates impact of changes to plant operations, safety, and food safety prior to and subsequent to project implementation; calculates return on investment; presents capital projects to senior management for approval.
Reviews and recommends changes to plant layout to optimize flow for new and replacement equipment.
Collaborates with site leadership and operational excellence teams to complete detailed analyses of plant performance and improve utilization of equipment, personnel and utilities
Partners with Technical Services, R&D and Operations to identify and implement the latest technology and best practices for equipment selection and facility maintenance standards across all sites
Analyzes vendor and equipment alternatives for new or replacement machines.
Analyzes and recommends warehouse and material handling methods.
Analyzes and recommends building construction materials and applications.
Compiles and submits information for all required department/corporate monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Researches and recommends resolution to environmental or safety issues
BS degree in engineering or a technical field, preferably in chemical or mechanical engineering.
Minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience in processing and/or packaging manufacturing.
CPG, nutritional, or food processing experience is preferred
Strong analytical, financial and project management skills
Experience with continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma – Green belt or Black belt is preferred
Understanding of systems and controls integration would be a plus
Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software
Effective at technical business communication
Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the office is quiet.
Frequent (25-50%) travel to plant locations in the U.S., as well as vendor locations globally.
