Overview

The Co-Pack Buyer is responsible for coordinating project needs, managing coordination between corporate cross-functional teams and creating Purchase Orders for Co-Manufacturers and Co-Packers. The categories can be complex, critical and impactful from a Supply Chain and ensure supply perspective. The individual in this position should have a procurement background, with some sourcing experience or an ability to learn quickly. The individual should be detail oriented and have a drive to support the team to reach cost savings targets on categories impacting T. Marzetti.

Responsibilities

  • Create Purchase Orders for all Co-Manufacturers and Co-Packers
  • Creating Good Receipts for Co-Manufacturer/Co-Packer when required
  • Create RFQ’s (Request For Quotation) for all Co-Packing items
  • Updating quarterly costing for Co-Manufacturers and Co-Packers
  • Follow up on invoicing and payment credits and short payments to Co-Manufacturers
  • Coordinates customization needs of Brand, Packaging and Co-Packing teams for affected skus
  • Utilize the size and scale of T. Marzetti to strategically source critical categories and ensure competitive costs
  • Coordinate and communicate project needs between external partners and internal project teams
  • Own and detailed knowledge of the sourcing process linking closely to Co-Manufacturers and Co-Packers and how the process functions within Marzetti systems
  • Support the Director of Contract Manufacturing with cost savings opportunities, updating actual savings, cash flow improvement, and alternate supplier initiatives
  • Understand the supply chain of Co-Manufactured and Co-Packed items from origin to the Distribution Centers ensuring that our supply networks are in place to meet our needs for quality and service

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience
  • Procurement experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred

Working Conditions/Environment

Works primarily in an office environment, with 25% or less time in a manufacturing environment, where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility.   Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as file boxes.  May be required to work weekends as needed.  The employee may periodically be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.  The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant.  Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.   Occasional travel to plants or meetings is required.
