A mixer combines liquid and granular ingredients according to recipe for producing dough.  Operates mixing equipment, pumps, and valves as required to maintain a required production schedule.  Provides product samples to lab as specified.  Cleans and rinses equipment as directed.

  • Combines ingredients in proper sequence, weights and proportions as specified by product formulas.
  • Fills mixer by lifting or pumping ingredients.
  • Reads scales and performs arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Provides product samples to lab according to defined requirements.
  • Operates mixing equipment, pumps, and valves to add ingredients in correct amounts.
  • Cleans and rinses equipment according to specified procedures.
  • Maintains operational level for the oil melting pot periodically through shift. Processor is required to lift 50 pound block of solid shortening to place into melting pot through out the shift depending on product being processed.
  • Transports full and empty mixing bowls to specific locations in sequence to maintain production.
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the processing area.
  • Provides support for the production supervisor in maintaining continuous production.
  • Works cooperatively with other members of the production area.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Notify supervisor and maintenance of equipment downtime.


  • Basic mechanical aptitude and math skills are required.
  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift and bend while moving about the facility.  Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more.  Must be able to stand for a 10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with two paid 15 minute breaks and one unpaid 30 minute meal period. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the plant is loud.  Earplugs, Steel toe shoes and hairnets are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards
