Plant Production


Directs the daily activities on a designated shift in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity and timely packaging of products.


  • Coordinates the shift’s production and material handling activities through supervision of employees to ensure the shift’s production objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.
  • Reviews staffing for all departments.
  • Maintains control over manpower and labor costs in the production-related areas through cost-effective scheduling and utilization of personnel.
  • Maintains packaging performance for scheduling, production, quality and safety standards.
  • Controls/minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, downtime and product re-work.
  • Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
  • Ensures all required production reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees.
  • Maintains good employee and corporate relations.
  • Coordinates with other department managers and supervisors to ensure proper material handling, maintenance, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, productivity, and maintenance in the production and material handling areas.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.


  • 2-3 years production experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.
  • BA/BS degree in a related field preferred.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility.   Must be able to move 40 -50 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals.  Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks.  May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.  The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.  The noise level is loud in the plant.  Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
