Overview

An entry level position in Microbiology Department, to suport the testing programs needed by Quality Assurance departments at plants owned by T. Marzetti and co-packers

Responsibilities

  • Organize samples from multiple facilities on daily basis and perform defined tests to enumerate microorganisms
  • Label, maintain samples for shelf life study testing
  • Help maintain laboratory area and equipment in an orderly, clean and organized manner
  • Review results to provide communications and guidance to key personnel regarding sanitation, raw ingredient and final product tests
  • Ensures compliance to microbiological, food safety and HACCP requirements for company, customer and government standards

Qualifications

  • BS in Microbiology, Food Science or other related science field
  • 1-2 years experience in food related Microbiology or Quality position preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

Working Conditions/Environment

Working in laboratory/manufacturing environment where regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, reach and bend. Some lifting of moderately heavy items such as supplies or sample coolers.  The noise level is moderate.  Hairnets, earplugs, goggles and gloves may be required to comply with safety standards.
