Overview

This position is critical in the manufacturing process as it establishes the foundation of food safety. The employee must have good knowledge and understanding of the Master Sanitation Schedule – its duties and responsibilities, MSDS, Lock Out / Tag Out, Fire Safety, Chemical Safety, and Fall Protection. The Sanitation employee must have knowledge and understanding of all food safety and janitorial procedures.  Safety, quality, and accuracy are the key components for success in this position. Attendance and Team player is most critical.

Responsibilities

Essential Sanitation Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observe company’s safety requirements all the time
  • Consistently make sure bakery is cleaned according to assignments from supervision.
  • Consistently follow daily task worksheet composed from the Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Consistently initial task on Master Sanitation Schedule upon completion.
  • Consistently follow proper cleaning procedures according to company policy and procedures.
  • Routinely work in production area as needed and directed by supervision or management.
  • Consistently know, use, and understand proper chemicals for cleaning task.
  • Consistently perform all Lock Out / Tag Out procedures on equipment in compliance to company policy and manufacturers instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision and/or management.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum six months of prior warehousing experience required.
  • Good hand/eye coordination, hand dexterity and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Typically walks / stands / stoops / bends / kneels / stretches / leans / twists / kneels on concrete floors regularly during shift.
  • Typically reaches, grabs, grasps regularly during shift.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work successfully unsupervised.
  • Willingness to be flexible to work weekends
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as needed due to production demand
  • Frequently must be able to turn on and off all machinery in production department.
  • Frequently must be able to operate mixer.
  • Frequently must be able to apply cleaning chemicals to equipment, machinery, and all locations of the facility as needed.
  • Frequently must be able to maintain log book and record keeping documents.
  • Frequently must be able operate floor scrubber.
  • Frequently may be required to work from heights and operate sky jack, scissor lift, and ability to work from a ladder.
