Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sets up machine prior to shift start up 
  • Ensures packaging materials are correct, in specification and properly positioned in the machine and changes materials as
  • Monitors and adjusts weight control of packaged units and ensures codes are accurate and correct in
  • Records all information as need regarding operations
  • Maintains and ensures that product complies with company quality standards to specifications (including but not limited to no packets in registration and within weight control; inspects filled containers to ensure that product is according to specifications)
  • Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards for entire plant
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the packaging
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue and ink
  • Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance
  • Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hoppers or other feeding
  • Assists Utility and other Machine Operator positions when needed and must move 50-pound cases
  • Coordinates information and equipment with Lead and Utility positions and prior and next shifts
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government



  • Basic mechanical aptitude and math skills are required.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and to understand time, temperature, and weight measurements.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a team.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe working area.

  • Prior machine operating experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • High School Diploma or GED

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of25 foot or more. Must be able to stand for an 8-10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud. Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) and slip-resistant/ steel-toed shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
