Forklift Operator - 2nd shift

Responsible for operating industrial equipment and forklift trucks to perform all material handling assignments. Identify and transport material to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, into trailers.

Available Shifts: 

First shift (7am-3pm) Monday-Friday OR

Second shift (3pm-11pm) Tuesday-Saturday 

1. Performs operation and safety checks on equipment before use.
2. Uses snips to open loads, removes strapping and wrapping and safely disposes in designated containers and areas. Places protective materials around load and uses hand or automatic strapping equipment to secure loads for final shipment to customers.
3. Removes empty skids and stacks skids in designated areas.
4. Proceeds safely to assigned area to pull, load, and move merchandise and all documents specific to each type of merchandise.
5. Completes cleaning duties at the end of designated shift
6. Completes safety check on equipment prior to usage including but not limited to battery, brakes, lift controls, and computer.
7. Moves or lifts up to 75 lbs.
8. Required to operate labeling equipment when needed
9. Required to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts etc.
10. Employees shall follow all GMP & Food safety requirements
11. Perform other duties as required or directed.
12. Must be able to meet production standards of quota required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities    

• Familiarity with warehouse and/or distribution facility.
• Ability to contribute to the team as an effective team player.
• Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Basic knowledge of computer functions on a keyboard.

Education, Training, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous job experience as a forklift operator preferred.
• Experience in the distribution industry a plus.
• Stand-up forklift and motorized pallete jack experience is preferred

This position requires good hand/eye coordination and motor functions for computer keyboards, driving forklifts etc. This position requires standing - 98% of shift, lifting/bending - 50%, working in 35° environment - 75 % and walking - 25% of shift. The individual that possesses this position must have basic reading, writing and mathematics skills. Must be able to lift/pick 3400 cases per shift (average weight 15 lbs. per case).
